Seeking Volunteers Ages 16+
Whether you're a high school senior, a college grad, or a working professional, Dream Pathways Kids has an opportunity for you to get involved. At this time, we are seeking counselors, peer advisors, tutors, and mentors for our After School and Summer Camp programs. Each program is broken up into 2 sub-age groups: Little Dreamers - ages 5-10 and Big Dreamers - ages 11-18. Position descriptions for each volunteer role are outlined below:
Counselors - Must be at least 21 years of age and have a 2 yr degree. Counselors are one of our most valuable and integral resources who play an important role in maintaing a consistent, strong, and supportive system of support to the youth we serve. Counselors are responsible for ensuring the safety, care and supervision of all children and teens in the Dream Pathways Kids Academy according to the policies and procedures outlined in the DPKids Academy Handbook.
Counselors work at least 5 hours per day and no more than 25 hours per week.
Peer Advisor/Counselor Assistant - someone between the ages of 16-18 who works as an assistant to the counselors and directly with the kids we serve. Peer advisors assist with homework assignments, program activities, and the day-to-day operations of the program.
Peer advisors work at least 5 hours per day and no more than 25 hours per week.
Tutors - The success of our students/cadets is highly dependent upon the role that our tutors play. Our tutors operate as the academic support system for our youth providing them with the educational support they need to succeed not only in the classrom but in their day-to-day lives outside the classroom and beyond our doors. Tutors are expected to have a strong passion for working with kids and a strong background in math, reading, writing, and/or the health sciences.
Tutors work at least 5 hours per week and usually no more than 20 hours per month.
Mentors - Our mentors are a very important tool and resource to our youth and act as positive role models and the go-to source when they are feeling down or just need a good shoulder to lean on. Mentors must be 18 years of age to apply.
Mentors work at least 2-3 hours per week and usually no more than 15 hours per month.
